Scrooge's Pawn
AudiTions

In the vibrant 1980s where forgotten treasures fill the shelves of a neighborhood pawn shop, Ebenezer Scrooge has built his life on one rule "time is money." But, on Christmas Eve unexpected visitors invite him to look beyond the objects he buys and sells, and into the stories and people connected to them. As the story unfolds, Scrooge is forced to confront his own life and discover that some things are too precious to pawn away.

"Scrooge's Pawn" is a heartwarming, funny, nostalgic reimagining of Dickens' classic about second chances and the priceless things that make life worth living.

Ebenezer Scrooge:  60s M, A grumpy emotionally guarded pawnshop owner who's convinced himself that people are selfish. Beneath his crusty exterior is a man who used to be warm funny, and a secret softie.

Bobbi Crachitt: 20-30s F, Scrooge's optimistic, motormouth employee who brings warmth and Christmas spirit to the shop. She believes in the best and uses her humor to push back against Scrooge's cynicism.

Freddie Scrooge: 30s-40s F. Scrooge's niece. Grounded, confident, worldly and affectionate with enough backbone to challenge her uncle without giving up on him.

Belle: 20s-30s F. A hardworking warm-hearted young woman who's desperation forces her into a tough situation as she tries to support her sick fiance.

Jacob Marley: 60s-70s F. Scrooges former business partner and best friend, now a restless ghost burdened by how he spent his life pushing people away. He's full of gravitas, regret and dark humor.

Ghost of Christmas Past: A whimsical free spirited hippie who's been on the shelf for years, showing Scrooge who he used to be.

Ghost of Christmas Present: A spunky 80s rocker whose motto is "Carpe Diem," teaching scrooge to enjoy the gift of the present.

Ghost of Christmas Future: A haunting specter of Y2K who's mysterious presence is deeply unsettling to scrooge.

Carolers:  A flexible ensemble portraying the colorful people who pass through Scrooge’s pawn shop and the characters within the Ghosts’ object stories, each bringing a distinct personality and helping transform the shop into a living collection of memories
